Kim King on Women and Giving

About Kim King

Our friend, Kim King, recently authored “When Women Give: The Adventure of a Generous Life.”

Kim is a former corporate lawyer, and began her own giving journey she found herself short on resources that would guide her along the way. She faced many questions:

  • How much do I give?
  • How do I find good organizations that are efficient and effective?
  • What are some of the common methods of giving?
  • How do I find others to join me on this journey?

Most of all, she wanted to root her decisions in a biblical framework.

Below are the thoughts Kim shared from her research on women and giving. Thanks, Kim!

Thoughts from Kim on Women and Giving:

In 2018 256 women were included among the world’s billionaires, up from 227 female billionaires the year before, and, up from 187 in 2015. Who is number one? Françoise Bettencourt Meyers of France has become listed by some sources as the world’s wealthiest woman. The number of women who are millionaires has also increased. Globally, in 2015 women held 30% of my individual and family wealth and 44% had grown their wealth solely as entrepreneurs.

What God has placed in the hands of Christian women is part of his plan and purpose for our lives.

What a wonderful opportunity for women to join God in his work in the world. I firmly believe that what God has placed in the hands of Christian women is part of his plan and purpose for our lives. What has he given us? Relationships, influence, experience, talents, and now growing financial resources. How exciting! Is this a mere coincidence? I don’t think so. God is calling women at this time to step up and join him. We are being called to live courageously and intentionally generous lives.

To take the first step, pray that God will show you that part of his heart for the world that he has placed in your heart. What do you both have a passion for? Don’t let any fear keep you from courageously living generously. Let’s join together to see what God will do when we offer him radical generosity.
